Buddhist monk murdered in Bangladesh
A monk named Mong Shwe U Chak, 75, has been hacked to death today near Baishari Bihar at Uppar Chak Para village in Bandarban district of Bangladesh.
The victim’s daughter-in-law found the body when she went to the bihar with some food for the monk around 5am.
Aung Sa Dhoai Chak, son of the victim, told the correspondent that his father did not have any enmity with anyone in the area.
Panic spread among the locals due to the first attack of its kind in the area. Motive of the killing is yet to be ascertained, police said.
Bangladesh has recently become a death valley for atheists, professors and other religious people. In the last two years, 10 bloggers, two professors, seven spiritual leaders and more than five other religious leaders have been brutally hacked to death by radical Islamists.
